My Road
I've been joining programs to educate me on ways I can help out my community, school, city, state, and across the nation as well as topics such as immigration since I want and will become an immigration attorney. Also, being more involved in my school has encouraged me to become more open-minded, and going out my way to help others in need.
Goals
- As of right now, one of my goals is for my GPA to be a 3.0 or higher.
- Another goal is to graduate from a 4-year college or university.
- Years down the line I wish to be an immigration lawyer attorney, be financially stable, and finally be able to travel around the world.
Personal Statement
My name is Zuly Hernandez Cruz and I'm from South Central Los Angeles. I'm a current senior at Foshay Learning Center, and inspiring to be an immigration attorney.
My goals in life is to be able to graduate from high school and continue to go to college. What has inspired me to go to college is my parents and my brother's chicano studies proffesor. My brother's proffesor's story touched me and made me rethink what I want to do in life knowing I'm given this oppournity to be someone I want to be. Someone who wants to help out my community, my fellow peers, anybody who's in need. My parents also inspired me to become someone better than I was yesterday, their struggles encourage me to want to give them the american dream.
I enjoy being involved in programs that has the same concerns that I do in wanting to change the social issues in my community, city, state, across thr nation. Programs such as ACLU SoCal Youth Liberty Squad, and the Mayor's Youth Council. Having these opportunities which help students who are passionate about issues affecting the peoplr around us is empowering as well as emotional.
A few goals I currently have is graduating high school, join more programs that involved the youth, and raise my GPA. I struggled in my sophmore year as I wasn't mentally and phsycially stable which caused my GPA to dramatically drop, and not caring much about my education. Luckily, I was able to realize that my education will be the only way I'll be able to achieve my goals. Now I'm trying my best to bring up my GPA up and become morr involved to find ways to help other students who have a lack or resources.
